Last May 19th, Research Line 3 – Responsibly raising healthy seafood to unlock aquaculture potential  – met online for a new coordination meeting to discuss the work achieved in this line during the last 6 months, namely the progress and difficulties in the development of RL3 research activities.

Several work developments were discussed, namely:
📌 New studies & data on Managing the Biological Life Cycle Under Emerging Environmental Threats & on Selection and Characterization of Microplastics with Distinct Properties, including studies on the effects of microplastics on fish species like zebrafish and European sea bass;
📌 More new data & results (including new accepted and published papers!) on Strategies to Decrease the Environmental Impact of Fish Farms, such as the evaluation of the use of insects as fish meals;
📌 Even more studies on Healthy and Sustainable Solutions to Meet Consumer Trends, including studies with algae as a great nutrient and bioactive compounds source;
📌 New developments (and several communications!) and results on Improving Fish Health and Welfare, with, for instance, studies focusing on the fish health promoting effects of algae and curcumin.
Also past and future activities regarding ATLANTIDA’s Coordination, Communication, Dissemination and Exploitation of Results were discussed.

This meeting closed the cycle of ATLANTIDA research lines’ biannual coordination meetings. After a summer break, these meetings are planned to return from September 2022 onwards.

Keep checking to find out more about the project results!
